This community is meant for the discussion of this system
itself. Also, it is the place to discuss the possibility or
the need for completely new communities of common interest
for this system.
|
Please address all contributions to the community as a
whole, not to individual members who may come and go.

How the impact of the "Forces of Evil" within
the field of globalisation over the past decade has
undermined the potential to create a culture of peace and
economic and social justice in our global political economy
and how might Quakers contribute to creating a New
World Economic Order that makes the alleviation of
poverty a major priority.

This discussion community exists in support of the Global
Truth and Reconciliation Commission (GTRC) initiative as
described on its web site ( http://www.gtrc911.org/ ).
The goals of GTRC are not new to anyone. Individuals
invariably agree its aims to advance 'global social good'.
They affirm the first part of Rabindranath Tagore's
observation: "man is kind, but men are cruel". GTRC must
provide a spiritual and intellectual home for all those who
concur privately with the testimony based, 'first priority'
global action to "meet the minimum needs of all". Each of
us must negotiate with ourselves, with others, and with our
local human institutions to achieve the same. The
commission will strive to achieve global agreement and a
program of action based on "ask not what the have-nots can
do for you; ask what you can do for the have-nots".
|
Please hold to the best standards of discussion, bearing in
mind Quaker principles and, most of all, civility and
respect for others. If someone seems to have slipped away
from high standards, please take the matter up initially
with that person privately.
